Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has announced that she is pregnant with her first child.
The 36-year-old actress-turned-businesswoman, who became a popular face in Bollywood with films like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Baazigar, Dhadkan and Life…In A Metro, tied the knot to businessman Raj Kundra in 2009.
She confirmed the news via social networking site Twitter. The actress tweeted, “Tweetos,”YES” an addition 2 r family is r confirmation 2 all queries We seek blessings from all in this very beautiful phase of our lives.”
According to a source Shilpa is in her second trimester. Shilpa suffered a miscarriage earlier this year, so it is believed that this time Raj and Shilpa did not want to break the news till the first trimester was complete. Now, she has started telling her close friends.
Shilpa Shetty will next be seen in the film The Desire playing the role of an Indian classical dancer who falls in love with a Chinese artist, played by Xia Yu.
“SO happy 4 my friend @TheShilpaShetty and her husband Raj, for the new, on the way, angel of happiness,” posted Shilpa’s good friend, actress Raveena Tandon.
Filmmaker Ken Ghosh tweeted: “So happy for @TheShilpaShetty and Raj – as they are expecting their first child – God bless!”
Actresses Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitley are currently expecting, while Aishwarya Rai recently gave birth to a baby girl on November 16. Even Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao were blessed with a son on December 1 through a surrogate mother. Looks like storks are visiting Bollywood quite often these days
